Andrea is a 4th-year graduate student in the Clinical-Community Psychology program. Her work adopts
a social-ecological perspective to examine the development of antisocial behavior during adolescence.
She has a strong interest in risks associated with youth gang-affiliation in particular. Andrea has extensive
quantitative training and experience. Her work incorporates sophisticated longitudinal techniques, and
she is interested in developing novel methodologies that answer complex, real-world questions. Andrea
is currently working on her Certificate in Applied Statistics from the Department of Statistics at the
University of South Carolina.
Andrea is also involved in a range of community psychology projects aimed at bridging the gap between
research and practice, with a specific focus in program evaluation and continuous quality improvement.
She utilizes participatory and empowerment evaluation approaches to support community-based program
implementation and sustainability of program outcomes over time.
Clinically, Andrea is most interested in working with adolescents who display a range of antisocial
behaviors, including youth involved with the Department of Juvenile Justice and gang-affiliated youth.
She is currently working at the Department of Juvenile Justice's evaluation center where she conducts
assessments on post-adjudicated youth. Andrea is trained in Multisystemic Therapy, Applied Behavior
Analysis, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. She works from a systemic or
family systems framework in treatment.
