| Inland flooding and even tornadoes are possible because of the intense convective activity within hurricanes. Tornadoes typically occur in the right front quadrant of strong hurricanes making landfall. It is here that the strongest convective cells and most intense wind shear develop. The radar loop below shows such cells associated with Hurricane Georges and lists a few of the tornadoes that formed upon its landfall. |
