Announcements for Geography 347

1) Field Trip for Political Science class, USC:

[This field trip is not compulsary for Geog 347 students and you would not receive any course credits for attending; but you are invited.  Sustainable Midlands issued this invitation on their web site.]  If you would like to attend, please register here (http://www.rockybranch.eventbrite.com).

Sustainable Carolina and Sustainable Midlands invite you to join Dr. David Whiteman's class on September 24th at 2:30PM for a bus tour of the Rocky Branch Basin!

Dr. Allan James, USC Department of Geography & professor of classes on Water Resources and Watershed Management, will lead our group on an informative trip explaining how the Rocky Branch watershed—stressed by impervious pavement, small underground pipes, and clogged drains—still manages to blow us away by its hidden beauty and not so hidden power in a storm event.  Also joining us will be Ryan Nevius, Executive Director of Sustainable Midlands and founder of the Rocky Branch Watershed Alliance.

Learn more about all the issues surrounding sustainable and responsible use of local waterways and about opportunities to get involved. The bus will leave the corner of Sumter and Wheat Streets right at 2:30 on September 24th, so make sure you arrive by 2:20 to claim your seat!
