The conference explored themes of violence against African and African diaspora women. The participants discussed experiences of and perspectives on violence in African traditional religions, Islam, and Christianity. Scholars from throughout the United States, Nigeria, Liberia, and Ghana explored several themes over the days of the conference.
As a group, we took a trip to one of the slave castles in Cape Coast, Elmina, Ghana. There are many of these castles along the coasts of western African countries. And then we returned to work, the theme of violence made much more meaningful by our trip..
